Friday the 13th (2009) Behind the Scenes B-roll Footage w/ soundtrack Part 1

You can watch over 15 minutes worth of behind-the-scenes footage, which I spit into three parts, from the new friday the 13th reboot, which arrives in theaters on February 13th. The footage contains all sorts unseen material from scenes in the film, which brings Jason Voorhees back to Camp Crystal Lake. Just be warned there are tons of spoilers within the clips. The story follows a group of young adults that find themselves going toe-to-toe with the infamous jason voorhees (Derek Mears) at a cabin near Camp Crystal Lake. I inserted a Friday soundtrack to add more atmosphere to what would just be ordinary boring behind the scenes footage. Enjoy!!

The end product is satisfying and occasionally great, but there are some blunders that keep it from being the “ultimate Jason” movie that it could have easily been with another pass or two at the script.

FRIDAY THE 13TH – My biggest gripe, I think- even beyond the horrible characters populating this film, beyond the women as blow-up dolls, the guys as jerks- came at the end. I understand suspension of disbelief. I understand the “need” for Jason to pop up out of the water at the end. Though I try, however, I simply can’t wrap my head around how they achieved that end. Upon enduring this horrible night, upon watching everyone get slaughtered, upon escaping Jason’s lair after being held captive for a month, Whitney and Clay are going to loose the tangled chains around Jason’s neck, freeing his mangled body from a woodchipper…then they’re going to haul his 200+ body all the way to the lake just to dump him in? This guy- he’s just a guy, after all, who killed all those people? They’re going to go through all this trouble and destroy the evidence? No…no, they’re not. People don’t do that. Yes, people do stupid things in horror movies all the time- splitting up, investigating noises, etc- but sometimes, screenwriters need to stop and say “You, know, this is a bit much…” and figure out ways to make the characters’ stupidity seem plausible. Even in its own shallow, ridiculous universe, the film has to make sense.

Am I being too hard on it? Maybe. It’s just a slasher movie, after all, right? It’s Friday the 13th. Jason gets his mask, he kills people. That’s what folks want, mission accomplished.

Jason, that sweetheart who wears a hockey mask and wields a machete, is back. Friday the 13th is just the ticket for those who want to cuddle with a Valentine date during a horror flick. Killer Jason (ki ki ki ma ma ma) is always good for scary jolts as he chases hapless hardbodies.
This is another spawn of the 1980 horror flick that introduced jason voorhees, the kid who drowned while hormonal teen camp counselors were distracted. Although Jason didnt do the murderous deeds in the first film, it didnt take him long to get up to speed with a machete.
After going into space, battling Freddy Krueger and terrorizing Manhattan, Jason returns to Camp Crystal Lake, his original killing ground.
The franchises 12th film, which reclaims the original title, combines elements of the first four films, according to Amanda Righetti, who plays a young woman who goes missing at Crystal Lake.
Its a throwback to the originals, Righetti said. You still play to that audience that is built-in, that grew up watching friday the 13th and are huge fans of it, but also the new generation who maybe hasnt seen the old 1980 film.
In this version, the camp is in ruins when Clay (Jared Padalecki) goes searching for his sister (Righetti) at infamous Crystal Lake although the authorities and locals advise him to stay away. Clay meets a group of college kids partying at a lake house.
Its the typical formula for a slasher movie and guessing who dies in what order. Whats not to love?
You know going in its Friday the 13th and if there are 13 characters in the beginning, there arent going to be 13 at the end. So you know people are going to die. Padalecki said. But I like that when it gets down to business you dont know who its going to be. It sort of keeps you guessing, and thats the idea.
F13 was filmed in the Austin area by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fullers production company, which also did the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003).
